Autumn Romance: Stories and Portraits of Love after 50 by Carol Denker

Author Carol Denker found love in her 60's and realized romantic love is timeless! She also realized there is little in our society to reflect this truth – too few images of older couples in love; too few stories about how wonderful older love can be. So for two and a half years, Carol traveled the U.S. interviewing and photographing couples who found transformative love after midlife. Her book includes the inspiring stories and heart-touching portraits of thirty couples who met and fell in love after 50.

Calling in “The One”: 7 Weeks to Attract the Love of Your Life by Katherine Woodward Thomas

“No matter how disappointed you've been in the past, no matter how weary and resigned you've become, I know that you can now choose a path that will enable you to find and welcome your beloved joyfully. For truly, there is someone for everyone. Take heart and be not discouraged. Love belongs to all of us.” (p. xxii)

The title of this book doesn't do it justice. It is so much more than simply calling in a mate. This textbook for living helps you develop a loving, honoring relationship with yourself as the foundation for everything else good in life. It shows you how to quiet the self-limiting beliefs we all have. Katherine's approach is very similar to the inside-out method I used to allow in my beloved husband. These principles can benefit couples as well.

The Hendricks share how to: Clear away unconscious agreements that undermine your best intentions; Enhance the energy, creativity, and happiness of each individual; Let go of power struggles and need for control; Balance needs for closeness and separateness. Addressed to individuals as well as to couples, Conscious Loving will deepen your capacity for enduring love.

Enchanted Love: The Mystical Power of Intimate Relationships by Marianne Williamson

“Love will push every button, try every faith, challenge every strength, trigger every weakness, mock every value, and then leave you there to die. But once you begin to turn the corner, to leave love’s bush league and enter the pros, there is no worldly activity that can match the joy of flying like an eagle through the skies of a lover’s heart.” (p. 27)

When my husband Dale and I were first getting to know each other, I was re-reading Enchanted Love. I told him it was a great book that described the spiritual partnership I was looking for in a love relationship. He earned lots of brownie points with me by promptly checking it out at the library and reading it. We like it so much we've given it as a wedding gift.
